The Consumer Loan Underwriter II is responsible for evaluating and approving consumer loan applications, ensuring compliance with lending policies, procedures, regulations, and risk management guidelines. They conduct thorough credit analyses, assessing applicants’ income, various lending ratios including debt-to-income to make sound lending decisions while balancing risk and member service. The role involves reviewing complex loan requests, providing mentorship to junior underwriters, and collaborating with originators to structure credit approvals that align with both member needs and credit union objectives. Strong knowledge of consumer lending regulations, credit analysis, and underwriting procedures is essential. Additionally, the position requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
The Underwriter analyzes credit applications across Direct and Indirect Lending channels, engaging with internal and external stakeholders. They actively contribute to process improvement initiatives, enhancing efficiency and business outcomes.
